This morning, in a press release from Ford Motor Company, the automaker reported that it achieved its best March sales results in ten years. Sales were up eight percent over March of 2015, exceeding 254,700 units. Sales for the first quarter rose nine percent to 645,626.

"Customers continue buying high-end SUVs and trucks, helping the Ford brand increase its average transaction prices by more than $1,600 per vehicle in March – nearly double the industry average,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “We have been seeing solid sales momentum in the first quarter across our entire portfolio, with car, SUV and truck sales up across the board."

According to the press release, Ford brand SUVs enjoyed their best start in company history, totaling more than 188,000 of the quarter, an increase of 15 percent over the same time period a year ago. F-Series, America's most popular truck brand, sold more than 73,000 units in March, an increase of 9 percent. It was also the first time since 2007 that F-Series broke then 70,000 mark this early in the year.
