Earlier in April, Ford indicated that, despite a $4.5 billion investment into electrification technology, and a promise to introduce 13 new hybrid or electric vehicles by 2020, that the company had no immediate plans of developing a long-range EV.
Tesla and Chevy, meanwhile, are both introducing relatively affordable all-electric models with a 200-mile range by the end of next year.
